September 2006 meeting:

Our September meeting was hosted by Michael and Annette Norman. Michael and Annette invited us into their home in Dickson, and also provided some tasty BBQ and all the 'fixins'.

Michael's main tank had a run of bad luck not too long ago, so Gary brought a few things along to help get his tank restocked.

We were all amazed at Michael's makeshift wave maker. It consisted of an acrylic box inside the tank with a pump inside. Attached to the impeller shaft was a propeller from a radio controlled boat. The pump was controlled by a float switch that Michael wired in reverse, so that when the water level got high (inside the acrylic box) the pump would turn on, which would thrust a wave of water toward the opposite end of the tank. It was such a realistic effect, and the animals seemed to love it! You can check it out by clicking here.

We asked Michael when he was going to begin mass production of these little wave maker devices.

Thanks to Michael and Annette for the hospitality and the great food!
